That’s exactly how you come across when you attempt to grow an audience with a follow-for-follow strategy on any writing platform.

You know, those platforms that display a little number under your profile, tempting you to obsess over it.

The harder you try to make friends, the needier you appear, and the less likely you are to actually connect with people in a meaningful way.

This phenomenon is a classic example of the Law of Reversed Effort, also known as the Backwards Law.

It suggests that in certain aspects of life, the more you strive for something, the further it slips from your grasp.

Consider this: the more you try to fall asleep, the more anxious you become, and sleep drifts further out of reach.

Or when you desperately try to recall a word that’s on the tip of your tongue, it seems to sink deeper into the recesses of your memory.
