The cool, smooth plastic felt like a portal to a new world in my ten-year-old hands.

It was the Samsung 5J, a coveted symbol of independence and connection.

Unlimited YouTube, Instagram, and the latest games — the possibilities felt endless. Back then, it felt like love at first sight.

Little did I know, this love affair would prosper into a full-blown codependency.

My phone became an omnipresent shadow, clinging to me like a second skin.

Lunchtime videos devoured family conversations, cool game breaks interrupted moments with friends — I even developed the habit of watching videos while eating, a choice I still deeply regret.

Our bond deepened into an all-encompassing connection, from casual hangouts to the most private moments (don’t we all?).

The worst part?

The insidious grip it had on my attention. A notification, no matter how trivial — a reminder to play that same game again — would yank me back into its digital vortex.

Homework, relaxation, boredom, even genuine fun with friends — my phone was always there, a constant companion demanding attention.
