My confidence arised alongside my abilities. When friends, eyes wide with curiosity, would ask, “How long would it take you to build that app?” I’d respond with a confident, “three hours!” — a testament not to inherent brilliance, but to the persistent strength of consistent practice.

A request to live code in TypeScript, a dialect I hadn’t yet tried. Initial arrogance whispered, “How hard could it be? This is similar stuff, right?” Yet, during a mock interview with a friend, the keyboard suddenly felt foreign, the syntax a cryptic code.
My fingers fumbled, my mind drawing a blank. I felt like a kindergartener grappling with the complexities of spelling “Mississippi.”
Disbelief morphed into avoidance.
Why submit myself to such a brutal, standardized test that seemed incapable of measuring my true potential?
